José Pedro Gaff (born in 29th September,1992, in Europe, Portugal, Porto) is an Portuguese illusionist and stunt performer. He made his name as a performer of street and close-up magic.
Peter began his career by bringing street magic to the public, performing card tricks and illusions such as levitation or bringing dead flies back to life. He used a small camera crew to record his act live in front of everyday people providing the basis for his television specials.

effect: the magician takes out a card and sets it on fire without even touching it!! method: what you need to do this trick is a card, cotton swab, that liquid stuff that people use to start a fire in barbeques, and an old eyeglass lens. first you dip the swab in that liquid stuff, but only a little bit. then you smear a little bit of liquid stuff on the center of the card. now it's magic time.you can do this trick on a sunny day on the steet or a stage with really powerful lights. first let someone observe the card and show your hand empty. when they're done, take the eyeglass lens out of you pocket ( but put it in your pocket first ) then put it between you thumb and index finger. adjust the light on where you put the liquid stuff, do a little Criss Angel breathing, and let the card ablaze.this is a totally awsome trick but be careful with fire, try it out ( if your parents let you ) and tell me what you thought of it.

How to put a toothpick in a fully inflated balloon with out it popping


effect: You take a balloon, fill it up with air, and tie it. You take a tooth pick and poke it in the balloon. Then you push it totally through the balloon so it is inside the balloon. The balloon has no air rushing out of it and it can be inspected by the audience.Secret: You use a normal toothpick and a normal balloon. This is not set up in any way. You fill up the balloon in front of the audience, but when you tie it, you will notice, after you tie it, there is a part of the balloon that has little air in it. This is right next to where you tied it. So gently poke the toothpick through there, and push it all the way through. There should be no air coming out, if there is, cover the hole up with your finger for a few seconds and it should go away. The toothpick can even be marked or anything. You just need to know where to place it. After, pop the balloon and show them the toothpick. Go confuse your friends!

Criss Angel

Career as an Illusionist

Criss Angel has filmed two seasons of his hit A&E television show Mindfreak. He is currently working on his third season. He has created daring demonstrations, which has incited some to guess at how they are done. They include walking on water, building floating, and cutting himself in half in a unique way. Criss Angel has won Merlin Magician of the year a record three times: 2001, 2004, and 2005.


Competition and popularity

Fans of Criss Angel have compared him to similar street magician David Blaine, to the point of assuming there is a rivalry going on between them. However, Criss has indicated that he doesn't see any such rivalry existing between them, noting that Blaine had come to visit him and offer his support during his 2002 Oasis stunt.
In a November 2002 issue of the New York Post, Blaine was quoted as being weary of the lesser-known Criss Angel's taunts, and challenged Angel to attempt to match Blaine's efforts to survive without food or water (a challenge Angel did not accept and that Blaine attempted on his own).


Legitimacy

Some of Angel's levitation tricks have been explained by Criss himself, notably on a DVD which is available for purchase from his official website store. The levitation featured on the DVD was an original invention of Jacob Spinney. Angel often claims that several of the levitations, teleports and demonstrations of telekinesis he performs are done through the power of the mind, body and spirit attained through meditation. Some of the other methods are well known within the magic fraternity and have been performed previously by magicians such as David Copperfield, David Blaine and the Pendragons. Angel is writing a book entitled Mindfreak: Secret Revelations from the Master of Surreality. Many viewers and critics allege that Angel is only a "video illusionist," using camera special effects, post-production effects, forced viewing angles, and assistants acting as amazed spectators for the TV audience[citation needed]. Many magicians who perform magic without camera tricks resent these methods while others simply see them as modern tools of magic on television[citation needed]. Criss Angel himself claims he does not use camera trickery, and had made an attempt to debunk these rumors during the second season by introducing a "Spectator's Point of View camera", a handheld video camera given to a what he says is a random person in the audience to shoot the action in any way he or she wants. However, the camera has seemingly fallen out of favor as the second season continued, only showing up very sporadically. He has even revealed the methods for some of his tricks to viewers at home, (although the effects are usually very simple such as making a toothpick disappear, or making a styrofoam cup float.) Angel guest starred on an episode of "Las Vegas" in which he says "If it's real, it's not magic!".


Musical career

Criss Angel was in an industrial rock band called Angeldust, which he started with Klay Scott (now known as Klayton of Celldweller) after Klayton's previous band Circle of Dust broke up. Angeldust released an album called Musical Conjurings from the World of Illusion in 1998 and performed in Madison Square Garden. He has also released several more CDs as Criss Angel.
In a more recent tone, Criss Angel created the video MF2 featuring Sully Erna, the lead singer of Godsmack. The video debuted on Yahoo! videos.

David Blain

David Blaine


David Blaine (born David Blaine White on April 4, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA) is an American illusionist and stunt performer. He made his name as a performer of street and close-up magic. His father was Spanish-Puerto
Rican and his mother, Patrice White, was Jewish of Russian origin.


Magic Career


Blaine began his career by bringing street magic to the public, performing card tricks and illusions such as levitation or bringing dead flies back to life. He used a small camera crew to record his act live in front of everyday people providing the basis for his television specials, David Blaine: Street Magic, David Blaine: Magic Man, and David Blaine: Mystifier. David's first television special, David Blaine: Street Magic revolutionized the way magic is both performed and portrayed on television. With its strong focus on spectator's reactions, David brought wonder to unsuspecting pedestrians without the use of the typical magic props used by other magicians. Since its initial airing in 1997, magicians all over the world have tried to emulate and duplicate David Blaine's raw approach to the art of magic. With the copycats close behind, and a goal of changing people's perceptions of what is possible, David turned his attention to stunts and feats of endurance:

Premature Burial

Beginning on April 5, 1999, Blaine spent seven days buried inside a glass coffin at the bottom of an open pit in front of a New York City building provided to him by Donald Trump. Water was poured in, filling the hole, before an acrylic glass top was placed over it as a cover. The surrounding area was covered in dirt. Passers by could watch him 24 hours a day. He emerged on April 12 on schedule. In a homemade video, a shadow on top of the coffin forms a cross, which Blaine comments on in his book.

Frozen in Time

On Monday, November 27, 2000, Blaine began a stunt called "Frozen in Time," which was covered on a TV special. Blaine stood in a closet of ice located in Times Square, New York. A tube provided him with air and water while his urine was removed with another tube. He was encased in the box of ice for 61 hours, 40 minutes, and 15 seconds before being removed [1]. The ice was on a stand, with space between the ground, and the ice was transparent, to prove he was inside the ice the whole time. He was taken to the hospital immediately after being removed because doctors feared he was going into shock.


Vertigo

Blaine's next stunt was called "Vertigo." He was to have started training for this particular stunt in Los Angeles, California, and was scheduled to board an American Airlines flight from JFK Airport to Los Angeles on September 11, 2001 at noon.[citation needed] Due to the terrorist attacks earlier in the day and a nationwide shutdown of airports, Blaine was forced to delay his training.[citation needed] On Monday 22 May 2002, Blaine performed the stunt in Bryant Park, New York City, where a crane lifted him onto a 90 ft (27 m) high and 22 in (56 cm) wide pillar. He remained on the pillar for exactly 34 hours and 23 minutes without food, water or anything to lean on. With his legs weak from standing atop the pillar for so long, he ended the feat by jumping down onto a landing platform made of a 12 foot (3.7 m) high pile of cardboard boxes.


Mysterious Stranger

On October 29, 2002, Random House published David Blaine's Mysterious Stranger: A Book of Magic. Part autobiography, part history of magic, and part armchair treasure hunt, the book also includes instructions on how to perform card tricks and illusions.
The treasure hunt, Blaine's $100,000 Challenge, was devised by game designer Cliff Johnson, creator of The Fool's Errand, and solved by Sherri Skanes on March 20, 2004, 16 months after the book's publication.

Above the Below

On September 5, 2003, Blaine began his 44-day endurance stunt sealed inside a transparent Plexiglas case suspended 30 feet (9 m) in the air over Potters Fields Park on the south bank of the River Thames in London. The case, measuring 7ft by 7ft by 3ft (2.1 x 2.1 x 0.9 m), had a webcam installed so that viewers could observe his progress.The stunt became the subject of much press and media attention, due to many people going to the site to watch and engage with Blaine. For example, Page 3-style girls from various male-oriented magazines flashed him. It got big attention from the media when eggs that had been thrown from the crowd were cleared from the box, when he was meant to not communicate with anyone. British documentary makers Richard Gordon and Lauren Hannon reported in their documentary Below the Above that five people lived below Blaine to show their support for what he was doing.Blaine emerged on schedule on October 19, murmuring "I love you all!" and was quickly hospitalized. He appeared gaunt and he claimed to have lost 54 pounds (24.5 kg) during his fast.

Drowned Alive

On May 1, 2006, Blaine was submerged in an 2.4 metres (8 feet) diameter, water-filled sphere (isotonic saline, 0.9% salt) in front of the Lincoln Center in New York for a planned seven days and seven nights, using tubes for air and nutrition. He concluded this event by attempting to hold his breath underwater to break the world record of 8 minutes, 58 seconds. Blaine also tried to free himself from handcuffs and chains put on him upon coming out after the week in the sphere. He seemed to have trouble escaping from the last of the handcuffs. Blaine failed in his attempt, only holding his breath for 7 minutes and 2 seconds before showing signs of distress and being pulled up by the support divers. Even if Blaine did hold his breath for longer than 8 minutes and 58 seconds, his attempt would not have been recognised because AIDA officials were not invited to the event, nor did the conditions meet their requirement for a official world record. Also, experienced freedivers, including former world record holder Eric Fattah, have commented that it is likely Blaine performed the stunt on a breathhold of oxygen-enriched air, instead of regular surface level air. Fatah points to video evidence (the sphere was closed prior to Blaine submersion and a loose SCUBA breather floating inside) and the lack of visible contractions typical with oxygen-enriched breathhold.
Blaine did claim to have succeeded in setting a record for being fully submerged in water for more than seven days straight (177 hours), however this record is as yet unrecognized by any record-keeping institution.
Blaine underwent multiple short hospital visits after the stunt ended and has entered an agreement with doctors from Yale University to monitor him in order to study the human physiological reaction to prolonged submersion. During the stunt, doctors witnessed skin breakdown at the hands and feet and liver failure.
In an interview on the Howard Stern Show on Sirius satellite radio, Blaine spoke of the week-long fasting he did before the "drowning alive" stunt, to avoid having to be concerned with defecation. For urine, he wore an external, condom-style catheter.

Revolution

On Sunday, November 19, 2006, Blaine announced his next stunt. He told reporters that he would be suspended 50 feet in the air while strapped by shackles inside a giant gyroscope. His goal was to escape from his shackles after the gyroscope had been spinning for 16 hours. The gyroscope was constantly spinning at a rate of eight revolutions per minute while hanging above an empty lot in Manhattan near Times Square.
Blaine's latest stunt began Tuesday November 21, 2006, with Blaine declaring, "This one's exciting for me. This one's a fun one." After spinning in shackles in the gyroscope for two days, Blaine emerged with a crash only a half hour after being allowed to try. As a result of his success, Blaine led 100 children selected by The Salvation Army on a shopping spree at Target. Each child received a $500 gift certificate from the retailer.
Blaine said the stunt was particularly important since The Salvation Army had provided him with clothing while he was growing up.
"This challenge is close to my heart," Blaine said.

Coin Through Table (Can even be signed)

effect: You show a coin in one hand (you can get someone to sign it) you grab the coin, slam it on the table and rub till it goes through.How:For this trick you must learn the French Drop and coin palming. If you dont know how, keep reading.French drop: Hold the coin between your thumb and forefinger. Other 3 fingers should make a slight cup. On your other hand use three fingers to (looking as if you grabbed it) push it out of your finger and thumb into the other fingers. Fist your other hand to make it look as if the coin you have just "grabbed" is in your hand. Back to the firt hand, Now palm the coin.Palming: Simple really, there is 2 ways. One hold the coin between the first joint of your middle finger and the skin where the finger is connected. Two, between the bag of skin your thumb creates when moving it and the next flap of skin.Hold it while concealing it from view.TRICKPerform a french drop while palming the coin. Bring the palm coin under the table and smack the bottom of the table with the coin hand while smacking the top with the no-coin hand. Rub on top and bottom to sound as if the coin is really on top. Reveal the coin has gone through.


Chris Angel's "arm though person trick" revealed!!!!!!!!!!

effect: A guy come to the set and interups a magic trick. The magician is upset so to make up for the interupted trick, the magician sticks his arm through the person. everyone is surprised.( there's a video you can watch on this trick, but it won't show you how to do the trick)secret: I was watching the video and thought of a way this trick could be done. All you need is your arm and a willing helper wearing a button-up jacket. Before doing the trick, the helper puts on the jacket. He/She puts only one arm in a sleve and leaves the other arm inside the jacket, then he/she button-ups the jacket and puts both of the ends of the sleves in the pockets of the pants or the jacket if it has pockets.now it's trick time. During the magic show, have the helper walk in on the act. Act upset that the helper disterbed the trick you were going to do. Now say that you are going to improvise then ( this might get a little personal ) stick your arm up the helpers jacket and when he/she feels the arm, they poke their arm out of the jacket ( they MUST keep the end of the sleves in the pockets ) and acts all freaked out. this trick will get a lot of reactions. try this out and tell me what you thought of it.

David Copperfield

David Copperfield (nascido David Seth Kotkin em Metuchen, Nova Jersey, EUA a 16 de Setembro de 1956), é um renomado mágico e ilusionista conhecido principalmente por sua combinação de ilusões espetaculares com a habilidade de contar histórias. Seus feitos mais famosos incluem: fazer desaparecer a Estátua da Liberdade (num programa de televisão - os assistentes ao vivo participavam na ilusão e sabiam como era feita), levitar sobre o Grand Canyon e passar através da Muralha da China.

O Ilusionista Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini, nome artístico de Ehrich Weiss, (Budapeste, 24 de Março de 1874 — Detroit, 31 de Outubro de 1926) foi um dos mais famosos mágicos dos Estados Unidos, para onde sua família emigrou quando tinha apenas duas semanas de vida. Teve uma infância muito pobre, o que o obrigou a trabalhar desde cedo. Foi perfurador de poços, fotógrafo, contorcionista, trapezista. Foi também ferreiro e nesse ofício ele aprendeu os truques que mais tarde o transformariam no maior mágico ilusionista do mundo. Certa vez, seu chefe encarregou-lhe de abrir um par de algemas cuja chave um policial perdera. Após inúmeras tentativas usando serras, Houdini teve a idéia de pinçar a fechadura para abri-la. Ele conseguiu e a maneira como o fez serviu de base para abrir todas as algemas que empregava em seus truques.
Desde então passou a se apresentar como mágico, fazendo números nos quais se libertava não só de algemas, mas também de correntes e cadeados, dentro de caixas, dentro de tanques fechados; dentro e fora d'água, de todo o jeito. Fez um sucesso enorme e ninguém até hoje conseguiu desvendar seus truques por completo, mesmo depois dele ter escrito boa parte dos segredos em livro. Houdini tinha habilidades impressionantes.Dando o exemplo de como ele era capaz, de ficar vários minutos dentro d'água sem respirar. E foi numa destas demonstrações das suas habilidades - a "incrível resistência toráxica" - que ele morreu, de forma parva. Após apresentar o número para uma platéia de estudantes em Montreal, no Canadá, enquanto ele ainda exibia o "super" tórax, um dos estudantes, boxeador amador, invadiu o palco e sem dar tempo para que Houdini preparasse os músculos, golpeou-lhe o abdômem com dois socos. Os violentos golpes romperam-lhe o apêndice, e seis dias depois ele morreu, num hospital de Detroit. Era o fim de Harry Houdini, considerado até hoje O MAIOR MÁGICO QUE JÁ EXESTIU.Ficando sempre no coração de quem o reconheçia.

Ilusionismo

Mágica é a arte de entreter uma audiência criando ilusões que confundem e surpreendem, geralmente por darem a impressão de que algo impossível aconteceu, como se o mágico tivesse poderes sobrenaturais. No entanto, esta ilusão da magia é criada totalmente por meios naturais.Normalmente as ilusões,têm como mecanismo de truque os espelhos Os praticantes desse mistério são chamados mágicos ou ilusionistas.
Dois dos mais famosos praticantes desta arte foram: Houdini, o "Rei das Fugas", que morreu devido à subita intervenção de um espectador em um dos seus espectáculos, cujo mágico desafiava que poderia levar um forte golpe no estômago e não sentiria dor, porém o espectador que era um boxeador o golpeou nos bastidores enquanto Harry Houdini não estava preparado para a ação, acabou ocasionando um problema interno e o mágico foi internado logo neste dia, mas infelizmente não teve volta e David Copperfield grande utilizador da "magia tecnológica". Este último detem entre outros Guiness World Records, o de maior ilusão encenada, por ter feito, em um video exibido na TV, a Estátua da Liberdade desaparecer em Nova Iorque.
A magia é muitas vezes apresentada e demonstrada em Circos, antiga e famosa arte, que na opinião de muitos começou na China.
A arte Mágica também é chamada de prestidigitação, pois é baseada fundamentalmente na presteza dos dedos do mágico em manipular os equipamentos e acessórios usados nos truques.
Existem pelo mundo inúmeras lojas que vendem equipamentos para apresentação de truques mágicos. A imensa maioria destas lojas vendem equipamentos e acessórios para mágicas de pequeno porte, como baralhos, lenços, moedas, linhas invisíveis, dados especiais, e pequenos objetos para apresentações de salão. Mas também existem os chamados grandes truques, com equipamentos grandes e complexos, para apresentação em palcos de teatro e espetáculos de grande porte.
Também é grande o número de publicações e manuais ensinando mágicas, como o Guia do Mágico Profissional, em português, e o All Magic Reader, em inglês.
